David Concannon Worst Case Scenario Survival
Three miles deep in the Bermuda Triangle

David Concannon has published more than 40 articles in magazines with circulation throughout the United States, Canada, England and Ireland, including Naval History, DIVER, Fathoms, The Explorers Journal, The Philadelphia Lawyer, Delaware Lawyer, The Wireless and SubSea.

Many of Mr. Concannon's articles discuss current legal issues.  However, since there is no shortage of lawyers expressing their thoughts about the law, politics and current events, Mr. Concannon often writes about topics of interest to his clients in sports, recreational diving and exploration.

The following is just a brief summary of some of his recent articles.

Recent Publications

Jeff Blumenfeld, You Want To Go Where?: How to Get Someone to Pay for the Trip of Your Dreams, Skyhorse Publishing, June 2009.  Appendix V is "Ten Tips for Negotiating Expedition Sponsorship" by David Concannon.

The title says it all.  Jeff Blumenfeld is an old friend of the firm.  His monthly publication, Expedition News, provides a wealth of information about the latest in the world of exploration.

David Concannon Dive Center Business Liability Article

David Concannon, “Clean Up Your Act:  How to Avoid Dive Travel Legal Messes (According to a Guy Who Cleans Them Up for a Living),” Dive Center Business, Vol. 11, No. 5, October/November 2008.

This article provides tips for the recreational diving industry on how to safely and successfully plan and conduct dive travel, as well as a discussion on effectively writing liability releases and avoiding litigation.  Click here or on the photo for a link to the article.

David Concannon DIVER Magazine

David Concannon and Don Walsh, "I've Got a Loverly Bunch of Coconuts...," DIVER Magazine, June 2008.

This is the story of the discovery and exploration of the world's deepest wooden shipwreck.  David Concannon participated in this expedition with several veterans of deep water exploration.  He made a submersible dive to the wreck site, at a depth of 16,109 feet, to provide an on-site legal opinion to the expedition's sponsors.  Some lawyers do more than just play golf.  Click here or on the photo for a link to the article.

Phil Nuytten, "The Great White: Remembering Ralph White," DIVER Magazine, April 2008 (photo by David Concannon).

A tribute to our friend Ralph B. White, a former National Geographic cinematographer, veteran of 13 Titanic expeditions and more than 40 years of exploration.  Often in trouble and never boring, he could not leave the house without his attorney.

David Concannon Legal Assistant Today

John McGurk, "Happy Anniversary?  Revisiting the FRCP amendments one year later," Legal Assistant Today, January/February 2008.

David Concannon was interviewed for this article describing the impact of the 2006 amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure concerning electronic discovery and electronic evidence.  Click

David Concannon Dive Center Business

David Concannon, "Dive Litigation in the Electronic Age:  The Importance of Preserving Dive Computer Data in the Event of an Accident," Dive Center Business, Vol. 10, No. 6, November/December 2007.

The title says it all.  Click here or on the photo for a copy of the article.

David Concannon DIVER Magazine

Don Walsh, "The Bruno Banani Caper," DIVER Magazine, November 2007 (photos by David Concannon).

This article describes the silly side of exploration, the part that pays the bills.  If you're not willing to film a German underwear commercial to underwrite the costs of conducting an international expedition, you might as well stay home.

Past Publications

David Concannon, "Titanic:  The First Dive of the New Century," Fathoms, Winter 2003.

This is the behind the scenes story of David Concannon's first dive to the Titanic, and the characters that inhabit a major expedition taking place with international media coverage.  Click here or on the photo for a link to the article.
